Franchising McChurch: we have adapted cultural practices through pragmatic desires of reaching people and then slapped a Christian label on it.
Pregnant Sudanese woman sentenced to death for “apostasy & adultery” since her father was a Muslim & she married a Christian.
Marriage is also considered null-n-void and the kids illegitimate. Ultimately, any religion that relies on the death penalty to keep adherents in line is doctrinally weak and offers no eternal hope of salvation.
Looks like the state governor betrayed the Nigerian girls to Boko Haram
Despite many pleas not to do it, the state governor sent the girls into the chaos and personally guaranteed their safety. The night of the attack, he redeployed the soldiers guarding them and not a single adult was left to protect them. WAY too much coincidence for me. Definitely needs a rigorous independent investigation.
As the article points out, the mess is so deep there that there isn’t a quick fix. Beyond sad situation as Christians are dying for their faith by the hundreds if not thousands.
Mull over this the next time you think Christians have it rough in Western countries.
“According to al-Shabaab, all Somalis are born Muslims by default. Somalis found practicing other religions are considered guilty of apostasy. According to the fundamentalist brand of Islam al-Shabaab adheres to, apostasy occurs when a Muslim leaves Islam for another faith and should be put to death.”
So by this tortured “logic”, if a Christian couple has a child, the child has apostatized and should be executed.
Jars Of Clay spokesman Dan Haseltine “I don’t think Scripture ‘clearly’ states much of anything regarding morality…I don’t particularly care about Scriptures stance on what is ‘wrong’”.”
Mr. Haseltine, there is a slippery slope and your on it. Once you abandon a clear “Thus said the LORD” and rely on how you feel, any doctrine becomes possible, not just changing the definition of marriage.
Does make one wonder about the sincerity of JoC lyrics now.
Hmmm… the USAF academy openly encourages Atheist day, yet prevents cadet from writing Galations 2:20 (without any further commentary) on whiteboard.
So apparently, its ok to be openly hostile to some religions while fostering the growth of other belief systems. I think the most alarming thing is political correctness has so possessed the institution that they can’t see the religious liberty of the cadet being infringed.
Quote from the Power of Suffering
This evangelizing could easily be seen as an overflow of Paul’s joyful attitude.
Nothing is less effective than a dour, bummed out Christian trying to share the gospel. The gospel is good news and we should reflect it!
If anyone had a right to gripe and complain it was Paul, yet he considered it a privilege to suffer in order to further God’s cause and save others.
